Amazon Prime Air

Currently working on designing and developing software for Amazon Prime Air - Amazon’s futuristic drone delivery system designed to safely deliver packages to customers in 30 minutes or less.

Amazon Sortation Technology

Previously, worked on automating Amazon’s Fulfillment Centers by writing software to forecast package volumes - allowing facilities to plan for, and process packages more efficiently. In addition, worked on highly-scalable, fault-tolerant and globally deployed software for controlling sortation hardware.

Outside of work

RUNNING

I enjoy endurance running. I’ve run a few half-marathons, and one marathon. Currently, training for my next marathon.

MUSIC

I’m trained to play an Indian hand-drum called the Tabla. I’m also an amateur at playing other hand-drums like the Cajón and Djembe.

HIKING

I started hiking when I moved to the beautiful Pacific Northwest (PNW). I have summited two 14-ers in Colorado, Mt. St. Helens - which is an active volcano, among others.
Next on my mind is Mt. Whitney, CA and Mt. Rainier, WA.

OTHER INTERESTS

I like to learn about different fields to incorporate an interdisciplinary approach to thinking. Lately, I’m interested in the applications of technology in the healthcare domain.

Also, I dabble with digital electronics projects.

My mission is to help solve global problems using technological innovation, and empower others to do the same.

A glance back over the last decade

2019-Now
Amazon Prime Air, Seattle, WA, USA

  • Working as a Sr. Software Development Engineer to design software for Amazon’s drone delivery team.

    Actual work details are confidential.

2016-2019
Amazon Sortation Technology, Seattle, WA, USA

  • Led the technical design of software for forecasting algorithms to predict number of packages arriving in a downstream transportation node at any given time, and optimize and plan physical resources to process these.

  • Led the design and implementation of controlling automated conveyer belts and automated-package label printing which worked globally in Amazon’s Fulfillment Centers, at tens of thousands of operations per sec.

2014-2016
Amazon Sortation Technology, Hyderabad, IN

  • Worked on modeling the flow of packages inside Amazon facilities by mapping physical resources in software to allow planning based on walk-distances.

  • Built tools to map the entire floor layout of Amazon facilities, which created a virtual representation of the building resources.

2010-2014
B.Tech CSE, Indian Institute of Technology

  • Completed my Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, where I worked on research problems in semi-supervised and supervised machine learning.

  • Developed a heuristic to allow better constraint selection during active semi-supervised clustering.

  • Worked on a novel way to rank hyper-planes in Support Vector Machines (SVMs) and use that to compare different multi-class classification methods.
